Personalized support to help you better use information to your advantage.
Many people are drowning in information. Better-designed information systems help. Whether you're a designer or user of such systems, information architecture is key to mastering information.
That’s where I can help. I’ve worked on hundreds of projects in lots of different contexts, so I know what makes IA projects tick. (Hint: it’s not just tools & processes; interpersonal skills and politics matter a lot!)
Together, we can talk through your challenges so you can succeed.
Content
Everyone has different needs. Organizational contexts can also be very different. We’ll make this engagement about the things you need to work on. That said, these are likely topics we’ll broach.
Artificial intelligence can help you design and manage information systems more effectively. Let's get hands-on with these amazing new tools!
Information architecture invariably touches on strategic issues. It’s essential to understand the context in which you’re operating, including internal politics.
IA isn’t just about improving the user experience: it’s also about meeting business objectives. It’s essential to learn what they are.
Information architecture crosses organizational boundaries. Stewarding a successful IA project requires collaborating with colleagues across (and beyond) the org.
Most design teams today understand the importance of research. But not all know about IA-specific research needs. You can help them help you.
Many larger organizations today have design systems and governance frameworks. Information architecture must be part of such efforts toward platform cohesiveness.
Information architecture mostly deals with abstraction. Alas, you can’t validate abstractions, so you must hone your prototyping skills.
What are your dreams and aspirations? Is working on IA a stepping stone to other things? Let’s ensure you’re on the right path.
The biggie here is AI, which is upending all areas of design (and business more generally.) But there are other new technologies worth diving into. Let’s do it together.
We’ll discuss sensitive issues, so we’ll have to sign a non-disclosure agreement at the start of the engagement. We’ll keep communications private and only via secure channels.
Logistics
Ideally, we’ll meet every other week. This gives you enough time to work on issues between our sessions. These are my recommendations for how we should engage, but I’m open to alternatives.
We’ll meet over Zoom for one hour every other week. There will be a minimum of eight of these calls. (But we can extend the engagement if needed.)
I’ll be available on chat (in Discord or Slack, as you prefer) to answer questions or provide suggestions between regularly scheduled meetings.
We’ll keep a digital whiteboard during the engagement. This is where we’ll brainstorm ideas, capture decisions, and plan the way forward.
Individual one-hour sessions are $500.
The program has a minimum of eight sessions. We can extend it if needed.
